Upon acquiring our 18' Caravel, we nicknamed it "Gort", on account of its resemblance to the helmet of the alien Gort in "The Day the Earth Stood Still". We are the 3rd owners. Upon purchase in 2005, Gort was very sound, no leaks, no rotting to floors, no problems. Second owner had removed most of original laminate and replaced with darker oak, however, desiring a lighter feel, we felt an interior face-lift was in order. So interior was painted a neutral color, oak was replaced with birch, and in 2007, the vehicle was professionally polished in Corning, CA, resulting in the head-turning appeal it has today!
